FAQ

The product I bought is refrigerated. Can I freeze the unopened meal, sauce or soup?

We recommend you enjoy your soup right away and do not freeze the product for best results. If you would like to freeze the product, place the original, unopened package in your freezer prior to the “Use By” date printed on the packaging. The product can be frozen up to 9 months from the date you placed it in the freezer.

When you are ready to eat the frozen meal, sauce or soup simply remove it from the freezer and thaw in the refrigerator. Do not thaw the frozen product unrefrigerated by leaving it on the counter. Once thawed, follow the recommended heating instructions. The thawed, unopened meal, sauce or soup should be consumed within 3 days of thawing.

Please know that chowders, bisques and soups where cream, butter or cheese are the primary ingredient will have a grainy texture. The grainy texture does not mean the soup has spoiled or curdled. The texture is the result of the cook/refrigerate/freeze/thaw/heat cycle that the soup experiences. That cycle causes the components to breakdown and not hold together as well as they would after the normal cook/refrigerate/heat cycle. This is why we recommend enjoying the soup without freezing.

Can products be reheated?

Yes. The best way to store the product after it has been heated is to let it cool to 39°F or less, cover and store it in your refrigerator for up to 3 days. DO NOT freeze the product and do not reheat product more than once.

I just purchased your product from the store and saw the expiration date has already past. Is it still safe to eat?

No, we do not recommend consuming the product beyond the “use or freeze by” date. Reach out to our Customer Care Team by Live Chat on our website or calling/texting 1-800-274-2526 regarding the expired product. We are available 9:00am – 10:00pm EST daily.

How do you determine serving sizes?

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) determines serving sizes, which we are required to list on our packages. All of our product labels include the nutrient information for a single serving.

Do your products contain Trans Fats?

We avoid ingredients containing partially hydrogenated oils; therefore, our products do not contain artificial Trans Fats. In some cases, naturally occurring Trans Fats may be present due to ingredients from animal sources such as beef or dairy products.

Do Blount meals, sauces and soups contain Monosodium Glutamate (“MSG”)?

We do not add Monosodium Glutamate (“MSG”) to any of our products; however, because Glutamates or Glutamic Acid can be found naturally occurring in many foods such as tomatoes, cheeses, yeast extracts, and more, we cannot say that all products are “MSG Free”. The level of naturally occurring Glutamate is far below the threshold for triggering a reaction in someone with sensitivity. The FDA requires any MSG added by a manufacturer must be clearly stated within the ingredient list as “Monosodium Glutamate,” no other alternative names are allowed.

How can I find out the cholesterol level of a product?

Check out the nutrition label on the product. We follow all government regulations regarding product labeling, including listing cholesterol values on product packaging. Please remember to check the package every time, because product recipes change frequently and ingredients are periodically added and replaced.

I have food allergies. How will I know if I can eat any of your meals, sauces and soups?

We take food allergies very seriously at Blount. While there are no peanuts in our facilities, we do use coconut in a very limited number of our products. Coconut is considered a tree nut and falls within the FDA’s “nut allergen” category. We also have products that contain milk, eggs, fish, shellfish, wheat, and soy.

We do not have a separate facility for processing items containing allergens; however, we do ensure that only the allergens labeled are present in the product, using the following measures:

  • Rigorous raw material traceability program.
  • Separate storage and preparation stations for allergen-containing items.
  • Equipment is thoroughly cleaned and inspected before and after cooking of allergen-containing recipes.

We recommend you review each and every ingredient statement carefully before consuming one of our products. Please reach out to our Customer Care team by Live Chat on our website or calling 1-800-274-2526 should you have further questions regarding allergens and specific ingredients. We are ready to chat with you 8:00am – 10:00pm EST daily.

Are your meals, sauces and soups kosher?

Unfortunately, we currently do not offer any that are kosher.
